Privacy Policy
MidMando is built to be private by default — your learning stays on your device and stays yours.
What is stored on your device
Your learning progress, streaks, review history, saved words and settings are stored locally on your device.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, your progress and settings sync across your devices through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). This data lives in your personal iCloud account under Apple's privacy protections — the developer cannot see or access it.
AI and translation features
Some features work by sending text to third-party services to generate a response:
- When you translate text, chat with Blob, have a written page corrected, ask for feedback on an answer in a practice paper, or check the text read from a photo, the text you typed or confirmed is sent to my AI provider (DeepSeek) to produce the translation, reply, correction, feedback or suggested reading. It is not linked to your identity, and I do not store it. Photos themselves are never sent.
- The Reader's sentence translation may send text to Baidu Translate and/or Apple's on-device Translation.
This text is sent only to provide the feature you requested. It is not linked to your identity, and MidMando does not store your typed sentences on its own servers.
Music search
In Music mode, when you search for a song, your search terms are sent to music services (such as Apple Music) to find and link the track. MidMando does not display or store copyrighted lyrics.
Microphone and speech recognition
Some practice-paper questions are answered aloud. With your permission, MidMando records those answers to your device so you can play them back and mark them. Recordings stay on the device that made them: they are not uploaded, not synced to iCloud, and not sent to me or anyone else.
If you ask for feedback on a spoken answer, MidMando turns the recording into text using speech recognition on your device. The audio is not sent to Apple or to anyone else. You can correct the text, and only that text is sent to DeepSeek for feedback, as described above.
You can turn off microphone or speech-recognition access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security.
Camera and photos
With your permission, Translate can read Chinese from the camera or from a photo you choose. The text is read on your device. The photo is kept with that translation in your history and syncs to your other devices through your own private iCloud database; it is not sent to me or to anyone else. Only the text read from it is sent, as described under AI and translation features above. Deleting the translation, or the photo, removes it.
You can turn off camera access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security.
Feedback and bug reports
When you send feedback or report a bug, your mail app opens an email to midmando.support@gmail.com. It contains the message you wrote, any photos you chose to attach, and three short lines added at the bottom: the screen you were on, the app version, and your device model and iOS version (for example “iPhone · iOS 26.1”). Everything is shown in the email before you send it, so you can read or remove any of it, and it is sent from your own mail account. No device identifier, advertising identifier, logs, learning progress or iCloud data is included, and nothing is sent in the background.
I keep these emails only to reply to them and to fix what they point at. I do not use them for anything else, and I do not share them.
What I do not do
- No account or sign-up required
- No advertising and no ad networks
- No third-party analytics or tracking
- No sale or sharing of personal data for marketing
Children
MidMando is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
